Storyline |
| When Eliza, an innocent young women meets a patient at the asylum where her father is held. She finds herself questioning the morality of keeping someone who in her opinion is perfectly sane, couped up in a place for the insane. After becoming acquainted with him she becomes determined to get him released. The people she encounters during this battle are of varying degrees of eccentricity and as the story unfolds the lines of insanity and sanity become blurred. |

| Young woman, a product of a sheltered luxurious upbringing, she is finding her independence and in the end looses her innocence. While visiting her father in the Asylum she finds the meaning of injustice and attempts to fight it with compassion and idealism. Self-centred in her cause for justice. |

| Mr. Loveday is a seemingly sane middle aged man who harbours a disturbing past. He is well mannered and a gentleman in every way, which allows people he meets to have a high level of trust with him. |

| An older gentleman, eccentric and slightly senile. enjoys his job mostly because he doesn't have much to do and can dedicate his time to silly hobbies. Wears a bow tie and is quite absent minded. |

| Hilary is the estranged wife of the now insane Mr. Doddery. Hilary is in despair over her deteriorating social status. Constantly self medicating to combat her depression and the growing gap between her and her daughter. She finds solace in cultivating her fine china and porcelain collection. |
