Tony Alcantar | #1 Dialect Coach

Tony Alcantar is an American from Chicago. Has a B.A. in theatre and an M.F.A. in acting from Chicago's Roosevelt University. He learned dialects from Chicago's premiere dialect coach, Belinda Bremmer.

As a standout in the Second City, Tony used these skills to create memorable characters. He also uses them as an accomplished voice actor. In Vancouver, he teaches dialects at VADA, UBCP, ImprovChicago and at various workshop sites throughout the city.

Tony dialect coached the leads; Oscar-winning actress Halle Berry and international A-List star Stellan Skarsgard in the feature film Frankie & Alice. Concurrently he was dialect coaching series lead Elaine Cassidy in Harper’s Island (CBS/Paramount). For her stellar performances, Cassidy won the Irish Film and Television Award for Best Lead Actress in a Dramatic Role.

Tony has also dialect coached Elizabeth Banks, Jenna Fischer, Nathan Fillion and a whole host of other Hollywood notables. He has also dialect-coached commercials, plays... too much to list!

At the time of this writing, Tony is the dialect coach for the FOX-TV action-drama Human Target.

In 2011 Tony is slated to go China for 4 months to dialect coach lead actress Zhang Ziyi (Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Memoirs of a Geisha, etc.) and others in the 3D feature, The Legend of Mulan. This action-drama will be filmed at the Hengdian World Studios, the largest film studios in the world.
