Synopsis:
In 1969, suspicion leads to paranoia, when six men in an isolated Antarctic research facility link a brutal murder to the arrival of a mysterious stranger. Six men, with six separate moral/value/cultural differences, will have to work together to reach a verdict of whether the stranger is guilty or innocent. These men will be faced with the most difficult situation and decision of their lives. When the men realize that they barely have any evidence ruling anyone as a suspect, they desperately begin to resort to racial/cultural factors as a method of prosecution. The Russian, otherwise known as the stranger, is in reality an expert Soviet spy who has infiltrated the base with the mission to collect valuable data, potentially usable by the Soviet Union. (But of course this isn't revealed until the end of the story).
Submission Instructions:

Please submit a copy of your resume to sixmen1969@gmail.com. If you have a demo reel, feel free to include it but it is not required.

Additional Comments:

All roles are open ethnicity! (Except for the role of "Albert", in which the ethnicity must be somewhat Russian).

Please don't let the age difference discourage you! If you like the character, please audition for it regardless.

Audition Date(s):
March 28, 29
Character 1 Name:
Charles
Character 1 Age:
42
Character 1 Description:
The station captain. Charles is an extremely authoritative man who is well respected among the crew members. His calm and calculative demeanour in even the most stressful of situations is notable in his character. He is a war-torn WW2 veteran who, for a lack of a better term, tends to hide his emotions (Mostly as a defence mechanism). Charles regularly smokes from his vintage pipe. (Actor must be comfortable pretending to smoke).
Character 2 Age:
28
Character 2 Name:
Chapman
Character 2 Description:
The cook. Chapman is very intelligent, pragmatic, and most importantly, empathetic. When the men resort to finding accusations solely based on the suspect's race/culture, Chapman is the only one to question these claims and stand up for them. Chapman is an extremely rational thinker, who always analyses situations carefully before acting. He is ultimately the reason why the Russian is let go and freed. Chapman is the foil character to McNess. (Actor must be comfortable pretending to smoke).
Character 3 Name:
Jennings
Character 3 Age:
25
Character 3 Description:
The meteorologist. Jennings is humorous, cheery, and bright. A very up-beat person at most times, but is able to switch to deep seriousness and professionalism when required. Otherwise, Jennings enjoys making the others laugh and does so regularly. A very important characteristic of Jennings is his fluency in the Russian language. Because of this trait, Jennings is ultimately the one killed at the very beginning of the story (By the Russian, of course, but isn't revealed initially). Jennings' death is what sparks the story into motion. Jennings doesn't smoke.
Character 4 Name:
McNess
Character 4 Age:
32
Character 4 Description:
The biologist. McNess is extremely unempathetic, angry, and ill-tempered. McNess has an almost psychopathic tendency to him, by the way he quickly accuses others with barely any evidence and sees an almost humorous/enjoyable aspect to it. He is essentially a sadist, who is desperate for any form of justice to be made. He views himself as the vigilante. This is why he begins to resort to using a general hatred towards "communists" in order to justify his accusations towards the Russian, in which Chapman immediately challenges. McNess later becomes insane, resulting in him becoming a threat to the other crew members by wielding a knife. He is then killed by Charles, who shoots him in the back.
Character 5 Name:
Stuart
Character 5 Age:
24
Character 5 Description:
The doctor. Stuart is an extremely charismatic, fascinating man, who also enjoys making the other crew members laugh with his witty humour. He is a very professional character, wielding a mature attitude towards certain situations. Stuart values strong order and "friendliness" among the crew, and as a result attempts to calm other characters down during some of the most heated moments throughout the story. Although he's mature, he has a tendency to conform to his surroundings and go along with the mob mentality. (Actor must be comfortable pretending to smoke).
Additional Characters:

Ferguson
21
Male
The radio operator. Ferguson wears sun glasses and plays the guitar. He is generally a shy and soft spoken character, with usually very little to say. Although, he uses this to his complete advantage by becoming extremely observant of his surroundings and paying close attention to detail. This skill will prove useful and effective for later moments in the story where his insight is an absolute must among the crew members. For this character, an actor who can play the guitar is most preferable. Please mention in your submission whether you are able to play or not.

"Albert" (The Soviet Russian)
17
Male
Albert, as part of the Soviet Union, was sent to Antarctica to collect potentially valuable information from American research facilities as an undercover spy. This information would assist the Soviet Union in winning the Cold War, and therefore is deemed an extremely top-secret mission. Albert, due to miscalculations, finds himself lost in a blizzard and is forced to find refuge in an American research base. When within the compound, the spy must become extremely manipulative in order to mask his involvement in the murder of one of the Americans. Albert firstly adopts a major stutter and masks himself as a subdued, lacking of confidence, 17 year old boy. In which successfully convinces the crew members, as well as the audience! Albert's character requires a minimal to intermediate level of Russian speaking, as well as be able to speak English. "Albert" is also a major stutterer. The stuttering is a very key component of the story.
