Project Synopsis
Jace, an organized and intelligent high schooler, works tirelessly in order to qualify for Harvard. However, because he is different, his loving mother soon becomes the very thing that stands in the way of his bright future. Faced with the pressures of idealism, family, and religion, Jace learns to accept himself for who he is and not for who others want him to be.
Additional Comments:

Actors are not paid, compensation will be in the form of crafty.

Character 1
16 - 23
(Looks like a high schooler). Main Protagonist. Jace is a clever, high-strung over-achiever who has his goals set on Harvard. With his nurturing yet demanding mother, his social life is driven to near extinction, with the exception of his best friend Jaden. Despite his introverted personality, he displays a certain level of confidence regarding his marks. Because of the constant demanding pressures and expectations, Jace sometimes defines his self worth through his grades. Through his journey, he learns to accept himself for who he is despite his parent's rejection towards his sexuality.
Character 2
Supporting Role. Jace’s mother is a deeply religious woman who just wants what is best for her son. She encourages Jace to strive for outstanding marks which often results in her neglecting Jace's feelings. However because of her religion, she feels as though it is her duty as a mother and Christian to remind Jace to stay away from members of the LGBTQ+ community. When he comes out to her, she is conflicted as she must choose between her own son and her religion.
Character 3
16 - 23
(Looks like a high schooler). Supporting Role. Jaden is Jace’s best friend, and is there for him through thick and thin. He is caring, supportive, and often tries to cheer Jace up after going through a rough day. In contrast to Jace's character, Jaden has a "don't worry about it" kind of attitude and would rather have some fun than shackle up with coursework. He is aware of Jace's struggles to meet both his and his parent's expectation. Despite being always there for Jace, he is quick to point out when Jace is treating him unfairly.
