Project Synopsis
At her husband John’s insistence, Kaye is forced to visit her estranged mother Jean in an attempt to reconcile. While visiting, the conversation quickly escalates as it is revealed that Jean has abandoned her family to live in a simulation. Jean’s “perfect” life begins to unravel as she is forced to choose between the facade or her real family, while Kaye must come to terms with Jean’s decision.

A newly married woman wants to save her mother from a simulation but is also fearful the relationship may never be repaired. She is confrontational with Jean from the moment they see each other again, but still desperately wants to reconnect. She is shocked by the life her mother lives. A second Kaye appears that acts as Jean’s protector.

Kaye’s mother has her head in the clouds. She’s selfish but loves her daughter. The loss of her husband has Jean living in the past, wilfully blind to reality, and unwilling to mourn her dead husband.

Kaye’s husband is kind, patient, empathetic to both his wife and her mother. He is the only reason they are even talking to each other. He is an excellent mediator.
