Project Synopsis
Auditions are now open for The Gastown Witch Trials, a brand new historical mystery with an enchanting twist, presented in the legendary upstairs speakeasy theatre at Water Street Cafe in the heart of Gastown, directly beside Vancouver’s iconic Steam Clock. Known as one of the world’s most unforgettable dining destinations, Water Street Cafe has become home to some of the city’s most immersive and talked-about dinner theatre experiences.
From Vancouver Dinner Theatre, the creators of sold out productions including The Last Night Onboard The Titanic, Dinner with Jack The Ripper, and over a year’s worth of intriguing theatrical tales, comes an all-new original production blending history, suspense, dark humour, romance, and lively musical moments.
Set in the eerie early days of Gastown, The Gastown Witch Trials explores superstition, scandal, and the secrets hidden beneath the cobblestone streets of Vancouver’s oldest neighbourhood.
The script is approximately 50 pages, and every role currently being cast is a central character with a substantial amount of dialogue and stage time. We are seeking strong performers with captivating stage presence, emotional range, and a love for scripted storytelling.
Rehearsals will take place at Carousel Theatre for Young People and will consist of 3 scheduled rehearsals total.
The first rehearsal will be a table read approximately one week after casting is complete. By this rehearsal, all actors are expected to have already familiarized themselves with both their role and the full script.
The final two rehearsals will take place approximately two weeks before opening night. All actors must be fully off book for both rehearsals. This policy is extremely important to our production process, as the two-week period before performances is reserved for refining the show and, if necessary, recasting any role should an actor not arrive fully prepared.
