Project Synopsis
Corey’s struggles with gender dysphoria come to a head when they start seeing face-less, mutilated versions of themself in the mirror, and coughing up a strange black sludge. No matter what clothing they put on, they still can’t fix the figure in the mirror; that is until they put on a baggy hoodie that hides their chest and curves. This leads them to start looking for ways to affirm their gender, starting them on the road to creating a reflection they can recognize.
Character 1
Corey
Age
20s-30s
Gender
Open
Description
Trans masculine person/trans man Corey has never felt completely comfortable with their body, and the expectations others have placed on them because of it. Since puberty, Corey has felt a strong disconnect towards their traditionally gendered body parts, but only recently have they begun to try and figure out why, unlocking a decade of suppressed discomfort in the process. Corey spent many years trying to mimic the way their friend Ellie dresses, hoping to find the same sense of self she has, to no avail. They often use painting as a way to cope with overwhelming emotions, and they struggle to talk through things they are dealing with. Corey is a university student, sharing an apartment with their childhood best friend Ellie.
Character 2
Ellie
Age
20s-30s
Gender
Female
Description
Ellie is confident in her identity as a woman, and often utilizes clothing to help her feel like herself. She went to school with her roommate Corey, and she has witnessed them grow more and more sad as they tried to dress and act feminine. She is supportive of Corey and their gender exploration, and while she doesn’t completely understand, she wants her friend to be happy. Ellie processes her emotions best verbally, and has a strong need to resolve conflict, even when it comes at her own expense. She is in university, and rents an apartment with Corey.
