Project Synopsis
This new play has been in development since January 2020 with the dramaturgical support of The frank Theatre Company. An excerpt has been selected for a workshop presentation at Rumble Theatre's Tremors Festival. ----------- Dusty Foot Productions is an interdisciplinary, female/non-binary centric theatre co. This new play explores themes of Polyamory and Attachment Theory simultaneously. In the exploration of Attachment Theory the lovers are double casted as their partners parents. "What we crave in relationships is what we lacked in our childhood." ------------ QUESTIONS POSED ARE: 1. How much do we gravitate towards partners that carry similar characteristics to our parents and why? 2. Can the subconsciously intrinsic behaviour engrained by parents at an early age be unlearned? 3. This particular excerpt shines light on the intersections within the queer POC community and their approach, conversations and practice in Polyamory. The excerpt explores the weight of words: Lines are shared simultaneously between characters to examine the influence cultural, generational and class status has on the weight and tone of words/expressions.
