Project Synopsis
The film follows two young Russian sisters, Anastasia and Olivia, as they move to America with their parents. Anastasia immediately falls in love with America and gets assimilated very easily, while Olivia doesn’t share the same feelings towards the new world. Olivia struggles to keep a connection with her older sister, as Anastasia becomes engrossed with her new friends. Olivia must now come up with a plot to reconnect with her sister or risk losing the relationship to the new world.
Additional Comments & Safety Protocol:

All COVID-19 protocols from the Vancouver Film School Safety Guidelines and the BC Provincial Health Office will be followed. All cast and crew will be required to wear PPEs at all times; actors can only remove their masks during picture.

Character 1
Can play a 9-year-old. Ideally 9-12.
Creative and artistic, Olivia expresses herself through art. In forms of drawings, she channels all her dreams, emotions and fears, but perhaps, her most grand creation yet is imagining herself as a spy - she loves reading detective novels and playing with spy gadgets. But, like every spy she reads about, she can be really stubborn and obsessive - especially when her feelings are hurt. She is loyal and emotionally driven - her family means everything to her, and if that relationship is ever threatened, she is willing to do whatever it takes to protect it. At face value, she is tough and resilient, but really, she is afraid of change and afraid that it will take her sister away from her. [Ideally Russian speaking or willing to learn lines in Russian and put on a Russian accent when speaking english.]
Character 2
Can play a 12-year-old. Ideally 12-15.
Anastasia is the cheerful and impressionable older sister to Olivia. She is extremely friendly, and can sometimes be a people pleaser. Unlike her sister, she gets really excited about change and loves learning about her new environment. However, she gets easily wrapped up in the excitement that it can seem as though she’s prioritizing her friends over her family, but this cannot be further from the truth. Even though the two sisters have a lot of differences, the one thing they have in common is stubbornness. So when they are on opposing ends of a conflict, their fight can go a little too far. [Ideally Russian speaking or willing to learn lines in Russian and put on a Russian accent when speaking english.]
Character 3
Late 20s
Luda is a very sensible and thoughtful mother. She’s usually quiet and reserved. Much like Olivia, Luda is a creative soul, she expresses herself through her cooking - her specialty is the classic Russian borscht. She’s not great with change, either, but she does it because she knows what’s best for her family. Even though, most of the time, she is caring and understanding, she is also uncompromising and would call out the sisters’ nonsense. [Ideally Russian speaking or willing to learn lines in Russian and put on a Russian accent when speaking english.]
Character 4
Early 30s
[Both Acting & Voiceover role] Ivan is a very forward-looking and cheerful father and husband. He loves America, is very open to change and adaptable to his surroundings. In many ways, Anastasia really takes after her father, but unlike his oldest daughter, Ivan is not as impressionable. He understands the value of family and wants the sisters to stay connected. He also notices that Olivia has a much more difficult time with the move, so he tries to get her more involved in the new culture, hoping that she would be more comfortable with it. [Ideally Russian speaking or willing to learn lines in Russian and put on a Russian accent when speaking english.]
Character 5
Can play a 15 year old. Ideally 12-15.
Jenna is half of the dynamic duo that is Jenna and Suzy. At first glance, they appear to be too mismatched to be friends. Jenna is cheery and confident, she makes sure that no day goes by without a smile on her face. Out of the two, she looks more friendly, organized, and more approachable. However, just like Anastasia, she’s very impressionable. Though she barely knows Olivia, she takes on Anastasia’s dislike of her sister’s behaviour, and acts mean towards Olivia.
Additional Characters

[SUZY] Female, Can play a 15 year old. Ideally 12-15. Suzy is the other half of the dynamic duo that is Jenna and Suzy. Having known each other for a long time, they went from neighbours, to friends, to BFFs, and now, business partners. In contrast to her friend, Suzy is a bit messy. She’s a little bit all over the place, and she doesn’t really care what people think of her. That’s why to those who don’t know her, she can seem very unwelcoming and mean, but really, as long as the other party puts effort into getting to know her, she’s very open to being friends with anyone.
