About Vancouver Actor's Guide

The Vancouver Actor's Guide (VAG) has been around since 1998, when there were very few easily accessible resources for people curious about the local entertainment industry... People wanted to know how to get started, what to watch out for, and to get connected with other performers for support, advice and ideas.

Since the beginning, VAG has continued to grow in popularity among actors, agents, instructors and other industry professionals. Most of the popularity comes directly from the people who use the site, who then tell their friends or colleagues, who then pass it onto their friends and so it continues.

I think that Vancouver is a great place to live and work as an actor. We all know that it's tough to break into this business and there will always be people who feel that it's a slow yearwhen at the same time others feel that it's been busier than ever. The industry will always have its ups and downs but it's up to us performers to be proactive with our own careers, and help support those around us.

There is so much information out there about how to get into the biz, and there are so many people who want to become an actor, model or performer. Because of the image of 'celebrity', fame and fortune, many people can be drawn in too fast without the right information they need to successfully and safely approach this type of work. There are many scams out there that prey on your hopes and dreams, which could pose a risk to your well-earned money, time and energy, and even possibly your physical safety.

What we're trying to do here is give you the information you need to make your own decisions - not tell you what to do. Ask questions, do as much research as you can - just be informed. That way you'll less likely be startled with what may be ahead.

Bringing people together and helping each other out in this potentially brutal industry is important. Supporting your fellow actors and productions by watching their shows (whether that's theatre, television or film), will help the rest of the acting community grow stronger for future productions.

This site is dedicated to all the people who love to perform, support local productions, and/or get involved in any aspect of this industry to help create a successful future for everyone.
