Project Synopsis
Set in Hell’s Kitchen, New York, during the late 1990s, In Arabia We’d All Be Kings by Stephen Adly Guirgis is a raw and gripping drama about a group of broken souls struggling to survive in a rapidly gentrifying neighborhood. The play takes place mostly inside and around a seedy bar that serves as a gathering place for characters whose lives have been shaped by poverty, addiction, crime, and shattered dreams. The play is a dark, poetic and brutally honest portrayal of urban decay and the people caught in its grip.
