Project Synopsis
We’re bringing S.B. Lounge’s epic Romantasy novel to life for the Shelf to Screen Festival! A coming of age tale about forbidden love, secrets, and duty. Wren, a young woman with the gift of magic (treated by many as a forbidden curse) has been brought to the kingdom as the ward of the royal confessor, Father Thaddeus. Wren strikes up an unlikely friendship with the King's second son, Kaelen, A spare prince of the realm taken more to books and flights of fancy than his instructions as a representative of the crown and realm. Despite their roles and expectations pulling them apart, the young pair find their fates inexorably linked as they are drawn towards one another, driven by a mutual understanding and love. They must fight convention and dare to choose their own bond over what society has planned for them, all while facing a sinister plot to overthrow the kingdom fuelled by Wren's magic itself.Additional Characters
King Marcus: 50-60 Standard British (open to other UK accents as well)
A wise King, and Kaelen’s father. Kind but stifled under the weight of the crown, King Marcus is stuck in his ways. He will sacrifice his son’s happiness for opportunities that he believes will keep him, and the kingdom, safer.
Film will be screened at the Shelf to Screen Festival in February. (https://www.shelftoscreenfest.ca/)
