Project Synopsis
When Camille seeks a fresh start in a new town as the celebrant at a local funeral home, they soon wish they’d read the job description more closely. The unrelentingly positive funeral director, emotionally overwrought florist, olfactory-obsessed embalmer, and dude-bro philosopher casket-maker, make Rainbow Bridge Funeral Home a minefield for contained, by-the-book Camille. Throw in the fact that the clientele of this funeral home aren’t quite what one would expect, and Camille is primed for a breakdown. Can Camille adapt and evolve to survive in this new environment, or are they too much of a creature of habit? ‘Animals’ is a darkly comedic take on mortality and the weird but precious experience of being alive. This story reframes the meaning of ‘family’, and explores the innate human desire for - and primal fear of - being truly seen.
Please note: all characters can be any gender, character name/pronoun adjustments will be made depending on who is ultimately cast.
