Project Synopsis
After a heated argument at school, teenage siblings Annie and Thomas part ways just before a school shooting throws the campus into lockdown. Desperate to protect her younger brother, Annie risks everything to find him. The events have Annie prioritizing her brother’s safety, which ultimately leads to her death.

The film emphasises their emotional journey and survival, with no graphic depictions of the perpetrator or explicit violence. The subject matter may still be distressing to some viewers. Description
Annie is in her last year of high school, 17 turning 18. For as long as she can remember, she always been an older sister. Sometimes It’s a joy, getting to tease and take care of her older brother. Other times it’s a nightmare, needing to share a bathroom and boss him into the kid he should be. Regardless, she loves her brother with everything she has. Annie goes through her life seemingly unafraid, internalizing her doubts and fears and facing them head on. As the eldest daughters, Annie is very good at taking care of herself. She forges her own path and puts up with her parents’ rules just as long as she needs to. Despite the grittiness of life, she chooses to look for the positives and focus on them rather than dwelling on the unwanted.

Description
Thomas is in his first year of high school, turning 15 just before school starts. He’s never not had an older sister, and though he wouldn’t admit it to her face, she’s one of his biggest role models and best friend. He hates when she gets bossy and intrudes on his manly independence, but he feels a loss whenever they have a big fight and would rather put up with her. Thomas is bullied in school, by the same group of kids. He gets in his head and thinks they have more control over his life than they actually do, impacting his social life. Going through the formative years of his life, Thomas is still figuring out who he is. He likes to run and he likes lego, but he doesn’t yet know who he’s meant to be.

Mom cares deeply for her children, sometimes a little too concerned for their wellbeing. She’s not a helicopter parent- she believes in fostering a healthy level of independence, but she still has rules for their own sake. She wants to lift her children up as much as possible. For the last twenty years, she’s been working her way up in a media management company. Earning enough for their family to be comfortable and happy.

Dad loves the kids, especially when they do as they’re told. He always wanted to be a dad, mainly for the purposes of making dad jokes and getting eye rolls. The kids are his pride and jo. He works at a videogame company which gives him and his family related benefits such as discounted games and access passes. Though, the dad plays videogames the most of their family.

Office Workers/Teachers (30's-50's) (Background) - Kind and helpful front office workers who are simply trying to make the school a welcoming, wholesome, and inclusive space.
