Project Synopsis
In the pursuit to prove herself as a worthy fighter, a woman knight sets out on a quest that no one from her village has ever managed to accomplish: to hunt down and slay the feared and infamous Sphinx. In a failed attempt to capture it, the knight wakes up to find herself face-to-face with the beast in its lair; discovering that It can not only talk, but is highly intelligent and intrinsically motivated. As the two converse, the knight becomes conflicted about completing her mission as the beast begins to make a strong argument that differs from the story she’s been fed. But now the knight must choose whether or not to trust the beast's intentions as her life will depend on the outcome.

Character 1
FERRA
Age
22-30
Gender
Female
Description
(Any Ethnicity) Ferra is a young fighter with an old soul who comes from a village of close minded & deeply scarred people. Her fight to be respected and desire to be recognized as a knight has been a rocky journey amongst her community. Despite their lack of approval, Ferra has dedicated her life to training herself in combat until she accomplishes what no other person has managed to do: To hunt and kill the fearsome and powerful Sphinx, referred to by most as simply, ‘The Beast’. Ferra hopes that in doing this, her victory will prove herself as a worthy soldier and make a name for herself as a hero. Personality: headstrong, tactical, stubborn, arrogant, and commanding. ADDITIONAL/IMPORTANT PERFORMANCE INFORMATION: The actress will be wearing (possibly heavy) steel armor and carrying a sturdy metal sword, this role is not advised for those with mobility issues or that have limited body strength. - Strong Improvisation / Imagination skills is considered a bonus as this will be a mixed media film incorporating environmental / character animation, meaning there will be limited visual components. - Previous experience with combat/ sword / or stunt training is also a bonus (please note: there will be no physical/combat scene involved but blocking choreography)
Character 2
BEAST
Age
Late 20's -Early 40's
Gender
Female
Description
(Any Ethnicity) The ‘Beast’ is a sphinx-like creature whose presence has been known & feared by mortals for centuries. Unbeknownst to FERRA, the BEAST reveals she was once a former God, who humans would come to her to grant wishes of power in exchange for partial ownership of their soul. Attracted to all things fire, the BEAST enjoys making deals with those who she deems have strong potential; shown by strong emotions, ambition or passion that presents to her as a literal heat source. The beast sees humans as investments, and is choosy on who she deems worthy of her services. For someone who willingly traded her immortality for the love of the game, Her only desire is to be channeled, no matter what way the moral scale tips. The ‘Beast’ is not definitively an immoral being, but one that mirrors the best and worst aspects of those who cross her path, amplifying/mirroring the traits of her visitors. Her presence is unsettling and hard to read, making FERRA question if she can truly trust this force of nature in what she says or what she offers. Personality: Dominant, Obsessive, Intelligent, Persuasive and Mischiveous. ADDITIONAL/IMPORTANT PERFORMANCE INFORMATION: - (PLEASE NOTE: ) This role will be purely a vocal and facial expressive performance as it will be greenscreened/digitally altered onto a fabricated monster model/puppet. Actors with strong facial control or can make exagerated expressions is desired. - Actress must be comfortable with wearing sclera costume contacts & silicone prosthetics as this character is designed to be created through SFX makeup.
