About the director:
Jack Paterson is an award-winning director, divisor, dramaturge, translator, actor, and producer whose practice has taken across Canada, The United Kingdom and around the world.  His work has ranged from contemporary devising, cross-cultural and multi-disciplinary projects to main stage and classical theatre.  He trained at Circle in the Square (NYC, USA), GITIS The University of Performing Arts (Moscow, RU), SENI Indonesian Institute of the Arts (Bali, INA) and received his MFA from East 15 Acting School (London, UK).  At the JAC, his work has included Julius Caesar, Titus Andronicus (Mad Duck Theatre Collective) and UP’s productions The Pitmen Painters and The Lion in Winter. www.JackPatersonTheatre.com

The Intercourse is a coming of age comedy about Robyn and Miles, two 17-year-old virgins, awkwardly attempting to have intercourse for the first time. After being left alone in the house, Robyn, who has mild OCD, and her shy boyfriend, Miles, try to carry out a plan they’ve been preparing for: sex. It’s going to be a little hard to succeed and will take a couple of tries. After being disheartened by consecutive failure, a surprise awaits them as they both run for the shower.

Disclaimer: We are casting for actors who are at the minimum age of 18 to portray 17-year-olds. There will not be any nude scenes due to regulations, but actors should make sure they feel comfortable with minimal clothing. An Intimacy co-ordinator will be on set both days.

Robyn is in her last year in a private high school. She is a smart, outgoing girl who is not afraid of saying what she wants, which is why she is the one who initiates sex. Her insecurity is overshadowed by Miles’ love for her and her excitement around Miles. She loves expressing herself with colourful clothes and nodding along to hip hop songs. She is very tidy and clean with mild OCD as her character quirk.

Studying in the same High school and year as Robyn, Miles is a more timid boy than her. He is an only child of two court Judges who raised him as a kind-hearted boy. His insecurity is noticeable and his actions are calculated. He is one of the moderately popular boys in school, known for his wins in archery competitions and his taste in classical music.
