Her stories occur from 1922-1946. Irene immigrated to Canada with her mother, sister, and brother in 1913 when Irene was 7 years old – her father had immigrated two years prior to help set up their new life in Canada. They live on Cumberland Street in New Westminster together until 1921 when the family moves to Surrey. Irene comes from a large family with three sisters and one brother. Her monologues address her move from England to Canada, her life growing up in Surrey, her time at UBC studying Animal Husbandry as one of the first women in the program, and finally her life with her husband Art Bourassa. Irene is a strong dreamer, she is passionate, determined, brave, and kind. Ability to sing acapella and dance are essential. Ability to play a portable musical instrument and comfortability improvising an asset.
