After surviving a xenophobic assault, a young Colombian immigrant, Laura, must choose between erasing her identity to feel safe or reaching out for help to reclaim her voice.
Submission Instructions:

Please send a resume, headshot and demo reel if applicable to toblendinfilm@gmail.com and indicate which role you would like to be considered for.

Character 1 Name:
Laura
Character 1 Age:
19-24
Character 1 Description:
Laura is a young Colombian immigrant, who has ambitious dreams of moving to the United States pursuing her studies and independence. She is kind, optimistic and emotionally sensitive. After surviving a violent racist assault, fear begins to dictate her choices. She suppresses her language and changes her appearance to feel safe. Her journey is an internal struggle between survival and authenticity.
Character 2 Age:
20-25
Character 2 Name:
Daniel
Character 2 Description:
Daniel is a Latino immigrant whose life is already established in the United States. His actions towards Laura show comfort and that he genuinely cares for her, wishing her to reconnect with her roots. His encouragement to report the attack will challenge Laura's survival instinct to remain invisible, as she is meant to be seen and proud of her true identity.
Character 3 Name:
Michael
Character 3 Age:
20-25
Character 3 Description:
Michel is an ignorant, uneducated white man who will represent the environment Laura feels pressured to assimilate into. His casual interactions unintentionally reinforce his racist beliefs. He has no empathy and is the personification of the Republican party and typical "MAGA" rhetoric. He is a representation and a metaphor for prejudice against Latinos within the U.S.
Character 4 Name:
Man 1
Character 4 Age:
24 - 35
Character 4 Description:
Dominant, entitled behaviour and overtly aggressive, Man 1 is the primary perpetrator of the racist attack. He sees women as objects, as he is the physical manifestation of hostility towards migrants and becomes the sole reason for the fracture of Laura´s sense of security.
Character 5 Name:
Man 2
Character 5 Age:
24-35
Character 5 Description:
Sarcastic and complicit, Man 2 reinforces the behaviour of Man 1. He is a perpetrator of violence through his bystander approach, but his mockery and participation contribute to the fracturing of Laura's identity. This man reinforces how harassment is normalized within group dynamics as well as how men can assert their “power” over women.

The Schiefer family is gathering for a dinner to celebrate grandmother’s birthday. Throughout the evening, each of the family members’ secrets start to reveal themselves in a series of miscommunications that ends in a chaos, hilarity and some heartwarming family moments, as well as Grandma accidentally ingesting a plate of weed brownies… and the oven catching fire… and maybe drinking one or two (or six) glasses of wine… You know, normal family dinner activities… A Recipe for Disaster is a one-act comedy play capturing all the hilarious and heartwarming moments of a particularly chaotic family dinner.

Stu – mid/late 20s/early 30s, male

that information. Becomes fast friends and stoner-buddies with Olly but will drop everything if given the
opportunity to flirt with Kate.
Physical requirements: Light intimacy (hand holding, hugging, flirting), fight choreography

Susan Schiefer – late 40s-60s, female

Synopsis or Project Context (commercial/corporate projects, see note below):
After Lin Pei, a young woman, dies in a car accident, a silent visitor arrives at her apartment, a reaper tasked with recording her life before her soul fades completely. Guided by Lin Pei's old journal, he begins to piece together her story, slowly stepping into her world through the scattered traces of everyday life. Lin Pei had always been creating. She worked in a restaurant by night, painted by day, and sent her artwork to publishers, one envelope at a time. Even though she was rejected again and again, she still wants to try once more. She saved coins in a glass jar, hoping to visit her mother someday. But reality was unkind. When she finally made the trip, she discovered her mother had already built a new family. At that moment, she realized: some people won't wait for you. So, she walked home alone, convinced the world had left her behind. But then, she saw a sunset. The world didn't answer her, but it didn't withhold its light either. She stood in the glow for a long time, tears quietly drying. From that moment, she began to live again. Her art changed. Color returned to her walls. Light returned to her room. Quietly, without fanfare, she sent out another submission. This time, someone saw her. "Golden Hour" is a short film about whether a life is still worth remembering without applause or legacy. And to answer that, this film draws the concept: Maybe being remembered doesn't require greatness. Maybe a life is worth honoring simply because it was lived.

Synopsis or Project Context (commercial/corporate projects, see note below):
When the University’s development plans involve the destruction of all “degenerate" and "unnecessary” clubs and societies, one Frat-Star and his house of Himbos must team up with a Theater Dad and his underdog squad of Theater Kids in order to save the only home they've ever known, and maybe get a little cultured on the way. An original musical that revisits the true, wholesome meaning of “boys being boys” and the endearingly unhinged quality of drama majors, Sigma Acapella promises laughs, songs, dance and romance!
